Aldridge Black Five.

Number 45407 stands at Aldridge today while working its charter to Chester. Unusually the loco was booked to take on water here from a nearby fire hydrant. After replenishing the tank the loco steamed off towards Walsall, making a fine sight and sound on a wet afternoon.

You got those in quick ! Great work, a vantage point no-one else could get to.
I think that a previous steamer has taken on water there but it was a few years ago now, so a rare occurence...

Just wish I had taken a better camera with me, the wet weather was a worry.

Watering there may well happen again as the hydrant is easy to get to apparently.

Presumably this is the site of Aldridge Station?

The station was a bit further back nearer Anchor Road bridge, at the tail end of the train, as was the junction for the infamous Walsall Wood and Brownhills Watling Street branch...
