Wagon Wheels

Just approaching the Chester Road bridge are three wagons dumped at the side of the line after a collision between two ballast trains during an engineering possession a few years ago. They are usually hidden behind the trees but can be seen at this time of the year.

Good work there, you can see 'em from the road but off a train is a better viewpoint. There's also a wagon or two abandoned at the lineside near Sutton Park post office too...

A rare photo that, those wagons have been there for a fair few years now. There is concern that they are slowly moving down the bank and a recovery operation is being investigated.

The wagons at Sutton Park seem to have been forgotten about, I often wonder what the TOPS status of these vehicles is.

To be honest I thought they had been pushed further down the bank and not that close to the running line.

There the beasts are!! You photted em. I remember also that some of them got lifted onto the backs of similar wagons and got railed into the sidings where the ballast tip is now at Bescot. And guess what? I daint take any shots. Will have to look in the background of other shots and see if they can be glimpsed.

Note - these wagons were removed in 2012.
