1960s Communication....

A couple of pics of the old telephone concentrator in Walsall PSB. This was still in use right up to 2004 when the area's Signalboxes began to be fitted with new touch-screen systems. Will they last 40 years?

Many of the curcuits were redundant by this stage, such as those for long gone signal phones and those for closed Signal Boxes such as Rushall Crossing and of course Newton Road Crossing.

Thats quite a good relic from the early days of PSB signalling, i'm surprised it hasn't been cast away as so much junk.

Great to see old signalboxes such as Rushall, Newton Rd and Darlaston Jnc still marked up, even if the system is obsolete and the boxes long gone.

Probably not worth anything money-wise but it's certainly got historical value reference local railways... I think you should half-inch that one.... !

Those old circuits were certainly an indication of past times. The photos were taken just before the system was ripped out. As for where it is now I have no idea....!
